A western and wildlife artist and illustrator, Tom Beecham has created work for major publishing companies including Reader's Digest, Bantam Books, National Geographic, Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, and Remington Arms calendars. He also served as president of the Society of American Historical Artists. During his 30 year career, he painted about 360 paintings, with 12 published each year as prints and calendars.
He grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, and from his youth, was an avid hunter and also learned to work on a ranch. He served during World War II in the Navy in the South Pacific and then entered the St. Louis School of Fine Arts. Several of his children are artists: Greg Beecham, wildlife painter; Susan Beecham Back, an artist; and Jo Beecham Dallas, artist and designer.
