Born in Billings, Montana, Laurie spent 12 years working in LA for the motion picture, theme park and entertainment industry as a scenic artist and muralist. She has done set design and illustration for theme park design groups, and many large mural commissions, including those for the Savannah Cultural Center, The Baltimore Power Plant, and a complete wildlife diorama for a museum in West Virginia. She also did many murals and scenics for the various Disney Theme Parks.
Laurie recently did the set design for the ballet "The Tremendious Journey" and the opera "Poia", both Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Celebration Signature events in Great Falls, MT. Laurie has, for many years lived in Montana again with her family; first in the mountains out of Augusta, and now on their ranch near Cascade. While juggling the ranch obligations with painting time can be daunting, the ranch environment gives her a special appreciation of our natural world and the circle of life.It is from this wellspring that she finds inspiration as an artist.She especially enjoys painting pleine air landscapes, and the interaction between animals or people and their environment.
She is a founding member of the Montana Painters Alliance and a member of the Oil Painters of America.
