Denise Gilroy
Denise Gilroy was born and raised on the East Coast spending her summers in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The mountains are where she developed her love for the rural lifestyle and the outdoors. As a young adult she left the East Coast to explore the country and landed in California's picturesque Sierra Nevada mountains where she made her home for almost 30 years before taking another leap to Northern Idaho. The common theme throughout was a desire to lead a creative life surrounded by beauty.
While the idea of painting on location is the ultimate for landscape paintings, that is not always possible during Northern Idaho winters. Consequently, Denise has recently experimented with other subject matter, as well as different techniques, in the warmth of a studio. Painting wildlife, domestic animals and landscapes are a very good fit for an animal and nature lover. Northern Idaho has proved itself as one of the most beautiful places to live providing plenty of subject matter, both landscape and wildlife. Denise has studied with accomplished artists Kathleen Dunphy and Skip Whitcomb.
"Artist Denise Gilroy is known for her intriguing portrait and plein air paintings. Her expressive, painterly approach is truly captivating. A strong sense of raw emotion and atmosphere can be observed throughout her body of work." Brian Sherwin
