Kronenberg, Joe 1968 -

Born in 1968, and residing in beautiful Spirit Lake, Idaho, Joe Kronenberg is a native of the Pacific Northwest. From a young age he has had a love of art. Making a decision 1988 to pursue a career in sales rather than art was difficult, but something he says he has no regrets about. "My time away from art has given me a respect for it I never used to have. I also learned some things in the sales industry, such as patience, which has brought my artwork to a whole new level."

Known for his attention to detail and realism he has been known to spend up to 150 hours to complete one graphite drawing and as many as two to three weeks on pastel paintings. "I don't move on until I achieve what I have pictured in my mind. Even if that means spending an hour or two in the same area of a drawing or painting." As a result of this commitment to detail, often times his work is mistaken for a photograph.

"I love it when someone thinks one of my drawings or paintings is a photo." Kronenberg takes his own reference photos and combines bits and pieces of a series of pictures to achieve his desired result, with western and wildlife being his favorite subjects.

"I put art on the back burner for a long time. Now I am having a blast making up for it. How fortunate I am to have such support from my wife, family and friends. And who could ask for a better place to live as a wildlife artist than North Idaho? I literally get some of my best reference photos out my own back door."
