Barchus, Eliza 1857-1959

Barchus was a landscape artist specializing in mountains. Twenty-two of her oil paintings hang in a Portland church, and her work is included in the collections of many U.S. Presidents. Barchus exhibited at the national academy of design (1890), was the Portland Mechanics Fair gold Medal winner in 1887, and was voted "Oregon Artist" by the Oregon State Legislature in 1971.
